What is ABRSM?

ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) is an international musical organization that aims for students to nurture and learn music with high quality and techniques all around the world.

ABRSM is in partnership with the four Royal Schools of Music and holds over 650,000 assessments in more than 90 countries every year.

Exams are offered in two different categories: theoretical and practical, and divided by 8 different levels by difficulty.

What do I have to do to prepare for the ABRSM exam?

Each grade (1-8) there will be a number of pieces, scales, arpeggios, sight-reading, and aural tests. Although this may sound like a lot, our teachers are trained to make sure that you will take the appropriate grade for your level. Our teachers will prepare you beginning months in advance and make sure that your receive the highest score possible.


What instruments does ABRSM offer?

Piano, Strings (includes violin, viola, cello, double bass), Woodwind (includes descant recorder, treble recorder, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone), Brass (includes horn, trumpet/cornet/flugelhorn, E flat horn, trombone, baritone, bass trombone, tuba), Harp (includes pedal & non-pedal), Percussion (includes combined, snare drum, timpani, tuned percussion) Singing, Musical Theatre, Organ, Harpsichord, Guitar, and Jazz (includes piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet/cornet/flugelhorn).


How do the exams take place?

ABRSM exams are offered two times each year. They only take place in officially certified institutions and audited by the ABRSM commision. Artisan Music Academy is one of the certified institutions.


What are the age restrictions?

There are none, anyone is welcome!


How to apply?

Mention to your private teacher that you are interested in taking the ABRSM exam. They will guide you by helping you with the application fee, purchasing the necessary books, and preparing for the exam.


What is the validity of ABRSM certification?

ABRSM certificates are valid globally. It is a major plus in applying to musical and non-musical institutions/colleges.
