Faculty
Flutist Amy (I-Yun) Tu enjoys an active schedule as a soloist, chamber musician, and clinician while on faculty at Mason Gross Extension Division at Rutgers University of New Jersey, USA. Ms. Tu is an award winner of the National Flute Association Masterclass Performers Competition, Bauer Scholarship Competition, and Frank Bowen Young Artist Competition. A graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, Ms. Tu received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music and attended Rutgers University. She performed in concert venues in the United States, Italy, Austria, Great Britain, Japan, and Taiwan. In recent years, Ms. Tu has collaborated with the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony, World Civic Orchestra, Sinfonietta Nova, Eastern Wind Symphony, and NOVUS NY. Ms. Amy Tu currently serves as a competition coordinator of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), directs the Bravura Youth Orchestra Flute Ensemble, and adjudicates for New York Flute Club, NFA Competitions, and the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia.
As a pedagogue, she maintains a studio mentoring many prize-winning talents. Students under Ms. Tu’s tutelage have successfully auditioned for major conservatories, regularly received top rankings in NJMEA Regional and All-State Honors Ensembles and were featured in the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, NFA High School Flute Choir Competition, and the FSGP Youth Artist Competition as as featured concerto winners with the Bravura Philharmonic, Monmouth Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Nova, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and the Manhattan Pre-College Symphony Orchestra.
Daniel Choi is our clarinet, oboe, saxophone, recorder, and piano teacher who graduated from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick, NJ with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education/Music Performance. Following this, he graduated from Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance in Philadelphia, PA with a Masters of Music in Clarinet Performance. He has participated in the New Jersey Youth Symphony Orchestra Camp as a Clarinet Faculty and Music Theory Instructor. He has also been apart of the Rutgers University - MGSA Extension Division as Clarinet Faculty, Adult Chamber Music Coach, and Summer Orchestra Camp Resident Assistant.
Christopher Yeh is our assistance teacher concentrating in piano and violin. He studies at Rutgers University and currently participates in the Rutgers Sinfonia as a first violinist. He also performed in Carnegie Hall in the winner's recital as the Grand Prize winner of the IMAS Talented Young Musician Olympia Competition. In addition to his violin accomplishments, Chris is qualified as a violinist and vocalist who scored at the top 10% among the entire state.
Konrad Malinowski is our acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and ukulele teacher. He completed his undergraduate at Elmhurst College with a B.A. in Jazz Studies and Music Theory/Composition. He is currently completing his Masters in Jazz Studies. He was awarded a Music Presidential Scholarship for excellence in academics and performance. Konrad has also ventured to India to study Classical Music guided by Dr. Mark Harbold.
